Morning Rush

Overview
These 5 tracks represent my first dive into the world of creating lofi beats, which coincidentally, began during a period of isolation due to a COVID infection in the spring of 2022. I was inspired to create this themed collection by the fact that I was stuck in my parents basement and unable to go with my fiancée to our regular Sunday date at our beloved Café Sasso in Rochester, NY. With each track, I attempted to capture one aspect of a lazy Sunday coffee run. It was my goal to tell a story through the track titles, field recordings, and musical elements. The first few tracks in the mix were done with limited electronic instruments, as I only had my laptop and headphones while in isolation. Altogether, Sunday Morning Café serves as a foundation for the style of lofi that I intend to make, and it is a proof of principle of my overall vision. I worked on the artwork at various cafés in my hometown of Newark, NY as well as Rochester, NY. For the instrumentation, I chose to use my ESP LTD sunbust electric guitar (recorded direct in), and a collection of electronic and sampled instruments from Native Instruments. These include an upright jazz bass, hybrid keys, upright and grand pianos, trumpets, alto saxophones, and a combination electronic and acoustic drum instrument called Drum Lab. Although I utilized sampled instruments, all melodies, chord progressions, and rhythms are original works. I really hope you enjoy listening on your favorite streaming platform, and I would love to hear your comments and feedback!
